While Egg is busy with saving an entire species from extinction, her Sister, the Queen, has decided it's time to step aside. The weight of her crown has become too much to bear. But before she can abdicate, she must find a way to have Egg replace her. That's going to be tricky. Even as Meggy's plan comes to fruition, a group of traitors on Aerianna arrange for our heroine's capture by rebels from the Outer Reaches - 3 disenfranchised planets of the Federation who plan to change the hearts and minds of the other worlds thru whatever means they can.

Alone, without any of her sisters to help her, Egg does the improbable . . . she befriends these rebels and declares war on the Federation. And if all that isn't enough, Egg learns she is pregnant with twins.

In the following eight months, she - as the Queen of Aerianna - intends to implement an incredibly robust agenda of changes and projects. It's a whirlwind of activity but Egg feels a certain degree of urgency. When she thinks about the upcoming births of her daughters, her goosebumps flash an ominous warning. Spoiler Alert - the ending is not what you might expect.
