With characters like Farmer Meanwell, Farmer Graspall, and Sir Thomas Grip, "Goody Two Shoes" unabashedly offers the listener a lesson in English morality, circa 1765. Originally published anonymously, this children’s story has endured as a variation on the Cinderella tale.
Margery is a poor farm girl who becomes orphaned and must walk with only one shoe. Her pure, good heart, however, compels a rich man to give her another pair, and eventually compels another rich man to marry her. Performed in a playful, grandmotherly tone by Cindy Hardin Killavey, "Goody Two Shoes" is an entertaining story that reflects a very specific belief about the rewards of moral behavior.

In recent years, the phrase "a goody two shoes" has developed a negative connotation, implying that the virtuousness of a such a person is insincere. This was certainly not the case in the original story. It is a charming tale of good rewarded and evil punished - a classic "happily every after" story.

Old fashioned and wonderful
This is a wonderful, "old-fashioned values" story. A breath of fresh air
from today's cynicism. Mys kids loved it!

Fun childhood story
Again, this is one of those stories that was read to me as a child, to have it read to me again now I'm old was fun. There is certainly no intellectural depth, just plain good.
