Acerca de esta escucha
Deconstruction is hard!
Bad views of God and harmful experiences lead many of us to deconstruct. But were right to run from the nonsense we've been taught and from those who hurt us.
God After Deconstruction is not a book for people who want the status quo or who think conventional theology works. It isn't for people who just want to tweak a bit what they've been taught.
Thomas Jay Oord and Tripp Fuller offer an open and relational vision of God. This vision makes sense; it fits our experience; it's livable. The open and relational view aligns with our deep intuitions about love and freedom.
God After Deconstruction is for those deconstructing and those wanting help after deconstruction. It's for people in the fire and those with scars.
God After Deconstruction is an adventure for lovers in tumultuous times!

Most theologies suck. They’re too technical or present a God nobody understands. Sometimes, the God they portray sounds like a controlling boyfriend or an absentee parent. Rather than woo or persuade, many theology books clobber people into submission. This book is different.

Why are we here? What's the point of existence? On the "big questions" of meaning and purpose, Western thought has been dominated by the dichotomy of traditional religion and secular atheism. In this pioneering work, Philip Goff argues that it is time to move on from both God and atheism. Through an exploration of contemporary cosmology and cutting-edge philosophical research on consciousness, Goff argues for cosmic purpose: the idea that the universe is directed towards certain goals, such as the emergence of life.

Historia
In this classic theological treatise, the acclaimed theologian and religious leader Howard Thurman (1900-1981) demonstrates how the gospel may be read as a manual of resistance for the poor and disenfranchised. Jesus is a partner in the pain of the oppressed and the example of His life offers a solution to ending the descent into moral nihilism. Hatred does not empower—it decays. Only through self-love and love of one another can God's justice prevail.

With its emphasis on relation over substance and possibility over predetermined endings, open and relational theology provides a way forward for both Muslims and Christians. This way, as “Open and Relational Theology and its Social and Political Implications: Muslim and Christian Perspectives” posits, aligns beautifully with important and ancient thinking from both traditions. Our world desperately needs “people of the book” to pursue cooperation over competition. Open and relational theology affords us that possibility. These essays were presented in their original forms at a ...

Historia
Mysticism is about existential ecstasy—an experience of heightening one's senses and self into a sheer feeling of aliveness. Mystical experiences offer us a practical way to open our thoughts and deepen the sense of our lives, whether through a mainstream connection to God or by taking part in mind-altering experiences. Here, Simon Critchley explores the history and practice of mysticism, from its origins in Eastern and Western religion, through its association with esoteric and occult knowledge, and up to the ecstatic modernism of T.S. Eliot and others.

Historia
In his first major work since The Universal Christ, one of our most prominent spiritual voices offers a wholehearted and hope-filled model for the world today, grounded in the timeless wisdom of the Hebrew prophets. How do we live compassionately in a time of violence and despair? What can we do with our private disappointments and the anger we feel in such an unjust world? In his most personal book yet, Richard Rohr turns to the writings of the Jewish prophets, revealing how some of the lesser-read books of the Bible offer us a crucial path forward today.

Historia
In the first four decades of his life as a Trappist monk, Thomas Keating created a comprehensive, unified psychospiritual pathway leading from healing to holiness and from contemporary psychological wellness to classic mystical sanctity and beatitude. As one of the key innovators of the meditative practice of Centering Prayer, he fashioned a powerful on-ramp to the Christian contemplative tradition. Yet, as beloved author and Keating disciple Cynthia Bourgeault shows, that was not the end of Keating’s story.

Historia
Whether listeners are devout believers or distant seekers, The Idolatry of God shows that we must lay down our certainties and honestly admit our doubts to identify with Jesus. Rollins purposely upsets fundamentalist certainty in order to open listeners up to a more loving, active manifestation of Christ’s love. In contrast to the usual understanding of the "Good News" as a message offering satisfaction and certainty, Rollins argues for a radical and shattering alternative. He explores how the Good News actually involves embracing the idea that we can’t be whole, that life is difficult, and that we are in the dark.

We are constantly being formed by the world around us. To be formed by Jesus will require us to become his apprentice. To live by what the first Christian disciples called a Rule of Life—a set of practices and relational rhythms that slow us down and open up space in our daily lives for God to do what only God can do—transforms the deepest parts of us to become like him.

Historia
Many portions of the New Testament introduce a compassionate Jesus who turns the other cheek, loves his enemies, and shows grace to all. But the Jesus we find in Revelation and some portions of the Gospels leads an army of angels bent on earthly destruction. Which is the true revelation of the Messiah - and how can both be in the same Bible? How to Read the Bible and Still Be a Christian explores this question and offers guidance for the faithful conflicted over which version of the Lord to worship.

A Brilliant, and Brilliantly Flawed Thesis
- De Stephen en 12-06-22
“The complexity of the human mind suppresses the raw simplicity of the divine soul..”
And far more important than the words you just read are directly said by Christ Jesus and one must learn what this means to its directness and boldness it carries.. it is the first commandment that Jesus Proclaimed.. If you love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind.. (paraphrasing) .. then these things discussed in this audio book will be not be at the forefront of the mind.. Why?? That is the big question.. You must find that answer. We will all see Jesus The Christ very soon my friends.. You can explain to him how you feel then.. We will see who has the last say and who asks the questions then .. Until then .. The journey is on you .. Find what is the reality of our true disposition. Remember.. The complexity of the Human mind… The understanding of this is the kicker .. Godspeed .. Be Still.. Submit to God.. And listen
Be Still & Know That I Am God..This book is a perfect example of why God said this!!

Although the premise of this book is supposedly about God, specifically after deconstruction, it is really a treatise on why we should reject the God of the Bible, based on personal testimony of scientists, seekers, and others.
It doesn’t give scientific evidence for or against God, just a scientists viewpoint.
Same with those who converted to other religions.
In short, although the book supposedly covers many facets of deconstruction, and why people deconstruct, it doesn’t treat the argument equitably, but rather seems to be a book written to tell people why they should deconstruct their faith.
The title implies a level of reconstruction. God. After deconstruction. I didn’t perceive the authors attempting to reconstruct God for those who deconstructed.
I can’t see how this book would be useful to anyone, unless they’re looking for justification for leaving their faith, or restructuring God into their own image.
In conclusion, if you’re looking for a book to help you justify your decision to turn your back on God, this is it. If you’re looking for something that will help with reconstruction after deconstruction, this book does not offer insight.
Jordan Peterson’s ‘We Who Wrestle With God’ hits the mark. This does not.
