It's a lot to ask of Kiki, especially when the people around her don't recognize the depths of her despair. As with many post-partum sufferers, Kiki is too down to reach out and demand the help she needs. Her brave face is actually hurting her rather than helping. Since she's been typecast as "unsinkable," no one can see how badly she's suffering.

With each hour that passes, the chances of finding Bonnie's baby alive grow slimmer. And Kiki's funk grows deeper. She's feeling more and more isolated.
