Superb!

I really enjoyed listening to this book. Melissa shares a unique story that gives life, wherever we live, insightful perspective. The audiobook is full of bonus material that one would not have in printed form.

Genuine beautifully told tale of life abroad

I thought I wanted to raise my children abroad, and made efforts to do so that were thwarted. When we were in China we tried to enroll our kids in Chinese school’s, but except for the very first time when the kids were 4&5 year’s old we were not allowed to do so. This book was cathartic for me as I was able to see not just the exotic beauty of a life lived in foreign lands that become home, but the reality of the difficulty that families face as they choose a path far from neighborhood swim teams and cousins but instead spend afternoon at the Louvre. This story is beautifully told by the author whose ability to flip between languages is astonishing. She tells the story of each of her children, of their lives, their heartaches, their joys their experiences as they embrace one culture or language only to leave it suddenly for an entirely new land and way of life. I loved this book. I was able to overcome my jealousy of her life and appreciate that we all make choices and there are positives and negatives that come with each decision. I feel as if I know her and could carry on a conversation around the table she carried around the world with her. Her ability to craft a sentence using the perfect words is a gift that brings joy to all is us who love words. Her voice is mesmerizing. The tales she tells will not soon be forgotten.

A delightful and moving tale of depth

The best book I’ve read in years! The rich story of Melissa’s family and travels are not only entertaining but eye opening. Her willingness to share the tender details of losing her son made weep and come to a greater understanding of loss and grief. I don’t think any other book has make me smile more or feel more. I would recommend this book to anymore.

I loved it!

A friend of mine recommended this book to me because l am an American living in Finland. My children grew up in both countries. I could relate to, appreciate, and laugh with the author and her experiences. I am so impressed with her talent.
