This book was very interesting and many things discussed as very prevelent to life today and will always be. the performance was kind of monotone and made it hard to comtinually focus on the story.

We have to walk an entire life in order to obtain all of this wisdomr. Learn from her!

This book takes me away from every day life and transports me to place where there is solitude and peace, where I can slow down and be fully present. After reading it the first time, it stayed with me, and I reflected on the meditations on "youth and age; love and marriage; peace, solitude, and contentment (from the 50th anniversary edition)."

Life is change. The things we love and want to hold on to are transient and intermittent. Nothing stays the same and live moves on. More layers are revealed. As I have gone through and will go through the different stages of life and experience different relationships, I see what lies beneath the external part - deeper connections, beauty, joy, contentment, insight, creativity.

After reading it, I have less fear of the unknown. Heading toward the unknown is where you find beauty in the lightness of touch and living in present. This book is a gift that transcends time and a multi-read for me.

I enjoyed all versions of the book - the paperback, ebook, and audible.

Gifts of beauty and contemplation

Ann Morrow's wisdom for living in the moment, probably founded in split second judgement from her days in flight, serves as a guide for the ages.

Even in 2023, this book is relevant. Enjoyed it very much and highly recommend it.

I have read this book many many times and it in itself is timeless. A must read for all

Often, women's writings could dip into many things whether profound or simple. This book seems to exist in the middle of the two. I could understand how its narration of women's lives could touch many within various generations, for the truisms are parallel for women no matter where they might be stationed in life. Its relatability make it universal, but I think fiftysomething titas and aunties like me would resonate more with the concepts the author presents. Nothing like having lived four or more decades to put things into better perspective for you sometimes. Aging is indeed interesting and intriguing. And the insights come with it are gold -- much like this book.

Truly timeless

I enjoyed Anne Morrow Lindbergh's words. Some are a bit dated, from the perspective of a wife in the 1940s and thereabout, and others ring true to this day.

I did not particularly enjoy the narrator's voice. I recommend that you listen to a sample on Amazon before punching this through Audible. (I bought it, anyway, because I listen to books sometimes to give my eyes a break from reading. In my profession, I read many hours each day.)

Thoughtful words written over 50 years ago still ring true.

“One cannot collect all the beautiful shells on the beach.” Opening passages, 7th Chapter, P. 106 of the book.

Nor do I expect to read/listen to all the books and audiobooks in my library, or available more and more everywhere.

This “Gift” of a book written in 1955 is minimally anachronistic by 2019’s fierce sense of pride and heightened, prickly sensitivities, yet still vital, prophetic regarding “self-help” core themes.

The world still needs, more than ever, the book’s closing words: “Patience—Faith—Openness, is what the sea has to teach...Simplicity—Solitude—Intermittency...”
