Ghost Mountain is a mountain that appeared yesterday, changing the lives of the local people; the town drunk, a retired teacher and her dog, a young soul and his wife, an old soul. It is a story about all that is unmistably present, yet never truly fathomable in our lives.

I can't believe I'm the first to leave a review of this book. It's not possible to describe without reading it. If the concept of a mountain appearing in a town intrigues you, give it a shot. That is why I read it. It's not really about the mountain, but how the mountain affects the people in the town.

It starts out with a lot of absurd humor, and along the way gets very dark. The language used to convey the thoughts and ideas in the book is the highlight. The story follows several characters through their lives. They are ordinary people. Their lives intersect with each other and with the mountain. The tone has a strange quality, but it's not a fantasy novel. This is literature. It will make you think and feel things.

The narrator is excellent. Loved his voice and delivery. My only quibble is there's no pause between chapters. It's like the last word one of chapter flows right into the title of the next chapter without even a breath in between. I don't think it is an intentional quality also present in the text, but an error with the audio files.

Quirky, dark, thought-provoking, and one-of-a-kind
