His name was Kevin but his keepers called him Zoo Boy. He didn't talk. He hid under tables and surrounded himself with a cage of chairs. He hadn't been out of the building in the four years since he'd come in. He was afraid of water and wouldn't take a shower. He was afraid to be naked, to change his clothes. He was nearly 16. Desperate to see change in the boy, the staff of Kevin's adolescent treatment center hired Hayden. As Hayden read to him and encouraged him to read, crawling down into his cage of chairs with him, Kevin talked.

Mesmerizing
While the subject matter is shocking, it’s important that we educate ourselves about even the darker and sinister aspects of the human animal. My heart goes out to those abuse victims and I applaud those who cared enough to help. Teachers are our heroes.

This was the best written and performed audible book I've heard this far. I honestly didn't want it to end. Finished it in 2 days. HIGHLY recommend

Heart-wrenching yet beautifully written.
Heart-wrenching story yet brilliantly written. No matter how disturbing the events became I kept hoping for a happy ending. I'm glad there are people in this world who are willing to take on these types of challenging cases and save people's lives.

This was my first Torey Hayden book, I am so glad I read the reviews and bought it. I was not disappointed in fact, I cant wait to get my next Torey Hayden Book. The narrator was one of the best, did a fantastic job with all the different kids.
