Resumen del Editor

This audiobook edition features eleven songs, including Nat King Cole’s “Unforgettable”, Ashley Campbell’s “Remembering”, and Glen Campbell’s "Gentle on My Mind”.

The pause-resisting, never-before-told story of Kim Campbell's rollercoaster 34-year marriage to music legend Glen Campbell, including how Kim helped Glen finally conquer his addictions only to face their greatest challenge when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.

Kim Campbell was a fresh-faced 22-year-old dancer at Radio City Music Hall when a friend introduced her to Glen Campbell, the chart-topping, Grammy-winning, Oscar-nominated entertainer. The two performers from small Southern towns quickly fell in love, a bond that produced a 34-year marriage and three children.

In Gentle on My Mind, Kim tells the complete, no-holds-barred story of their relationship, recounting the highest of highs - award shows, acclaimed performances, the birth of their children, encounters with Mick Fleetwood, Waylon Jennings, Alan Jackson, Alice Cooper, Jane Seymour, and others - and the lowest of lows, including battles with alcohol and drug addiction and, finally, Glen’s diagnosis, decline, and death from Alzeheimer's.

With extraordinary candor, astonishing bravery, and a lively sense of humor, Kim Campbell reveals the whole truth of life with an entertainment giant and of caring for and loving him amid the extraordinary challenge of Alzheimer's disease. This is a remarkable account of enduring love, quiet strength, and never-faltering faith.

Glen Campbell

Kim Campbell did a good job writing the book and narrating it too. The last few years of Glen were sad.

Faith, Alcoholism and Alzheimer's

This was a good book. I'm glad it wasn't padded out with unnecessary information about Glen Campbell's life but it does include biographies. How to deal with someone with tendencies towards alcoholism, using Faith as a Force for good in one's life during the struggles and Alzheimer's at the varying stages.

Rest In Peace Glen

A great book for me personally, as Glens songs always take me back to a time where all in my life was only good.
The author was a little rough on Tanya Tucker though, as there were not to many men that would not be attracted to her back in the day, or today for that matter. The last part of the book was much easier to digest, as his wife and family were present to shower this imperfect man with love, and no doubt, God had him sing a couple of tunes for Him.

Spiritually, emotionally & eloquently inspiring

As a singer & musician since I was 17 in Spain, hired by an established variety & Top 40 band, all at least 10 years my senior. Still under the ruling of the Dictator Franco, even with a Spanish guy in the band. We were limited to the 3 clubs on base & with our variety, for base celebrations. Still it was the band I was most proud to be a part of. I'd made a vow before age 13, that my wife & children would always be #1in my life. Once I felt I'd done all I could to raise my boys into the great young men they became, I started out to start my music career over. Got as far as opening with a Classic rock, variety band, for the Gatlin brothers, who came out early to compliment the band & my voice. Though I had to be told. since I was lugging my 400 watt stereo amp across the infield grass of the baseball stadium we played ar. Within less than a year I was fighting for my life, against stage 3 Melanoma & 6 self administered Interferon injections a week for a year. Due to several prior health issues, I beat the cancer, but ended up disabled. But not s word about me, I was alive to see my sons graduate & become extremely successful young men. I lost my oldest at 36, & watched in horror as my now ex-wife fell into alcoholism & after 5 years of hell, she chose divorce. Never would've even been thought about by me. The vows I gave to God & my wife, were in sickness & health. But I was powerless once she set her mind. Kim's story brought tears to my eyes, as I dealt with an alcoholic father & wife. She's an eloquent story teller & you can hear the love & devotion she has & had. Glen was a lucky man in so many ways. He also went through hell, many times over. Probably the source of his emotional singing. You always felt Glen's soul in his voice & saw the genuine great man he was sober. I know all to well how alcohol can make your soul mate or father a complete stranger & able to break your heart, spirit & mind
Kim's love & faith helped Glen come from the darkness. into the greatest years of his life. Sadly cut short by a horrific disease. That I presume were harder for Kim. I feel her pain, in far too many ways I've experienced, but there's no way I could've told the story as eloquently as Kim. Worth every dime & second of your time.

A Look Into Glen and Kim's Life

Kim Campbell shared a deep look into the lives of herself and Glen Campbell.
A look into how to love unselfishly and with God's love, anything is possible.
it's not a book of a fairytale life. It is a sincere book, with real life ups and downs.

Gentle on the mind except when its not

Kim Campbell a true stalwart of a woman who naively decided to become involved with Glenn Campbell 22 years her senior in 1981. She knowingly knew that he was a drinker and then eventually understood he was an alcoholic. She decided to stay.

She was he caretaker for life regardless of his violent and verbally abusive nature. She deserved everything she got hook, line, sinker and more. She chose Glenn and he took advantage of her knowing full week what he was doing.

Kim certainly doesn’t play a victim because she did believe she was one and played with the cards dealt to her. She believed that God had put her in that place to be in Glenn’s life. And, she took full advantage of that life as well as Glenn did with her. A true marriage made in heaven.

She said it best and much to her chagrin that she has always had a “caretaker” personality and even to her fault she owned it. She accepted Glenn regardless of his faults by loving him unconditionally even when her life was in danger. She never left.

Yes, I will say it again she never left. Why she stayed was only hers to own and accept. No one else. She was for Glenn as much as he was for her. Yes, we learn why Glenn was the way he was and why did the things he did and said in his drunken state, but that is nothing but an excuse and rationalization for Kim to forgive and accept him; and most importantly love him.

A great entertainer he was, but that was about. A functioning alcoholic with so much baggage that no one was strong enough to carry or even live with. Kim did and expected everyone else to do the same. She was in control or so she thought, but in reality and in a different socioeconomic place she would have been out of there or maybe not?

This story is truly a sad one. TMI is the name of the game with this book. Nothing more and nothing less needed to be said. Kim Campbell whom I do t know, but know people like are nothing but opportunists who grab hold and never let go of the prize no matter what and do anything to the bitter end.

Yes, the end was the best part. Glenn died and was out of his misery leaving behind a a treasure trove of a musical legacy filling over 50 years and 61 studio albums entertaining millions over his stellar career. But, that is all I needed to know. Nothing more and nothing less because that is what is gentle on my mind.
