What was expected was an interesting read on Nehemiah’s mission to rebuild the gates. I was interested in diving deep into the meaning of the gates and really expecting some spiritual clarity. Instead what it quickly evolved into within the first chapter is Christian nationalist propaganda, right wing rhetoric, and dog whistling. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I hope this serves as a warning to others: this book is not to be taken as spiritually authoritative, it is political in nature.
