A Baseball Story

Sportswriter Mike Lassiter is working on a book about baseball players over the decades who had enormous talent, but for one reason or another had very brief careers. No story is more mysterious than that of Jack Williams from the 1940s. Those still alive who saw him play maintain that he was the greatest ballplayer there ever was. But after two phenomenal seasons, Jack Williams walked away, never to he seen or heard from again. One man who might know what happened is legendary scout Dix Lang, who discovered Williams and brought him to the big leagues. Lassiter has an ace in the hole which might get the reluctant scout to talk, but the story he tells might be one best left untold…
