Writing, as we know, is a solitary pursuit and sometimes a lonely one. When I began writing, I often felt the isolation as well as the need for mentorship. A few years later, I had the good fortune to join the Langley Writers’ Guild. I will always be grateful for the help and encouragement of the members of that group, both past and present, especially Margaret Anderson, Muriel Fisher and Rae Purcell. To all of you, my sincere thanks. I also owe a great deal to my former writing instructors Ed Griffin,
Mary Ellen Reid, Elva Stoelers and the late Bill Burns, all of whom taught me so much and encouraged me through the best and the worst times.
