How about having the gift of life saving, miraculous healing and then needing it again? I can only compare it to what the Lord allowed Satan to do to His servant Job. The Lord allowed Job to be tested in his faith throughout the biggest losses anyone could imagine, short of letting the enemy kill him.
What has always amazed me was the strength of mankind throughout the ages. We are created to withstand so much on our own, yet when confronted with eternal choices, we become weakened by the world around us for far less than we expect.
By understanding the Word of God and having a relationship with the God of the Word, we can overcome our selfishness and need for control and become the selfless vessel, ready to overcome the obstacles of our world and be used in it, as we wait for our eternal home with our Savior.
