Shania Twain
Born Eilleen Regina Edwards in 1965 in rural Canada, Shania Twain has lived a life rife with triumph and tragedy. By the time she was two, her parents had divorced, and by early childhood, her family of seven was often without food, at times living in a filthy one-bedroom apartment. But when her mother and stepfather were tragically killed in an automobile accident when she was 22, Shania knew that the only way to lift her family out of poverty was to use her God-given singing talent. At an age when most young people have only themselves to think about, Shania moved her entire family to a nearby resort where she began performing, supporting her younger brothers and sisters.
In riveting and often heartbreaking prose, Shania takes the listener back to these pivotal moments, revealing the difficulties she and her family faced. Shania writes of being discovered, time spent performing in Nashville, and her sudden, dramatic rise to stardom. She also spares no details about her recent personal struggles and heartbreaks - struggles she's never discussed publicly. This remarkable book is the story of a brave, honest, entirely genuine woman who faced odds most people never experience, yet has succeeded beyond anyone's expectations.

Where does From This Moment On rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I would say as far as autobiographical books go, this one is very close to the top. I already loved Shania the singer, but to learn for about Eilleen, the fierce, brave and kind woman was really a treat. Her life story and her will to overcome the obstacles she faced are both truly inspirational. If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
From This Moment On, of course! There is no better title.Any additional comments?
My only disappointment with this book was that Shania didn't read the entire book. While Scott was a fine narrator, I really would have preferred to hear Shania tell her entire story, instead of just two small audio clips in the beginning and end.A great glimpse into the not so charmed celeb life

Where does From This Moment On rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I rank this book very highly, it almost reads like a novel yet the truth can be stranger than fiction, and more inspiring. What was one of the most memorable moments of From This Moment On?
The sheer triumph of determination forged in a thirteen year old girl who finally has had enough. She by force of nature pulls her mother from her depressed bed and leaves the world of abuse and sadness which had plagued her little family for so many years. This was the turning point, and it was accomplished by a small, adolescent girl against all odds. This was the moment when the audience stands and cheers.
What does Shania Twain and Sherie Rene Scott bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Steven King said that audiobooks give us the original intent of storytelling. We forget that the printed word was created as a substitute, a second hand artificial way of communicating. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I love bios, they give you a glimpse into worlds you would never have known otherwise. I was "moved" so many times in this book it would be impossible to pick just one thing. When children endure and then thrive it is always epic. It is the essence of our human existence this maternal/paternal drive found within the youngest. We had some young chicks once, and one was perhaps two weeks old and the other a few days. But the younger would struggle to get under the wing of the older and the older would act a protector to a degree. This is what our dna does.
The saddest example is self love, when there is no other "chick". As in the case of orphan babies rocking their own cribs which I've heard stories of from Russian nurseries.
It is both sad but also the blazing hope of victory within us that we can be our own parents when necessary.
Any additional comments?
