Jimmy Wales; comics Aziz Ansari, Rob Huebel, and Paul Scheer; and music critic Milo Miles are the guests on this edition of Fresh Air.
Jimmy Wales is the co-creator of the interactive online encyclopedia Wikipedia, which was founded in 2001. Readers of Wikipedia write and edit the entries themselves. The site also has its own editors. Some entries, including the one on the "2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict" have been edited more than 4,000 times. Often, there are "edit wars" over a site, and the accuracy of entries has been questioned by some professors and colleges who forbid their students to use it. Wikipedia is one of the top 10 sites on the Internet and has entries in 250 languages.
Then, Aziz Ansari, Rob Huebel, and Paul Scheer are a part of a comedy troupe, Human Giant, which also features Jason Woliner. Their new sketch-comedy series of film shorts, also called Human Giant, premiered on MTV this month. (It's on Thursday nights.)
And, Milo Miles reviews three new CDs that collect the work of Nigerian juju superstar King Sunny Ade. They are The Best of the Classic Years and Gems from the Classic Years (both on Shanachie), and King of Juju (on the British label Wrasse). [Broadcast Date: April 19, 2007]
