Hear writer and professor Carol Muske-Dukes and British singer-songwriter Bryan Ferry on this edition of Fresh Air. Muske-Dukes' new novel is Channeling Mark Twain. Fellow author Mary Karr described the book as "a riveting story about women in prison, with language that scorches the page and characters you won't be able to live without...She's given us a true hero in Polly, who's [as] unforgettable as Huck Finn." Muske-Dukes founded the PhD. program in literature and creative writing at the University of Southern California and is a recipient of a Guggenheim fellowship. She is the author of three novels and seven poetry collections. Then, Bryan Ferry is best known as the front man for Roxy Music, the experimental synth-pop band he founded in 1971. Over the years, in between his Roxy music, he's recorded albums devoted to songwriters he admires. Ferry has a new album of his interpretations of Bob Dylan songs. It's called Dylanesque.
