Acerca de esta escucha
Ever wonder how the strength and determination of women helped shape the landscape of reproductive rights in America? Are you fascinated by the power of an independent, militant women’s movement, which could even influence the conservative Supreme Court? If so, Free Abortion on Demand Without Apology: Reproductive Justice in a Post-Roe America should be your next listen.
Here, we step into the powerful world of reproductive justice and gain valuable insights into liberating all girls, women, and LGBTQIA+ individuals from oppression. We aim to walk the path toward true democracy by helping women finally claim equality, bodily autonomy, and, ultimately, their human rights.
Penned by Tamara S. Eliot, this book takes you back in time to remember how we won the landmark case of Roe v. Wade at a time when an all-male conservative Supreme Court was in power, and Nixon was in the White House. Eliot sheds light on how despite their perfect public image–politicians have historically feared the power of the people in the streets. She also unravels how the Democratic Party, in her opinion, has co-opted and diffused the power of the Women’s Movement.
In this thought-provoking account, Eliot provides a roadmap for reclaiming the momentum and power of the Women’s Movement to reshape the future of reproductive justice forever. She emphasizes the urgent and crucial need for a movement that is united in solidarity, under a banner of equality and justice for all, and independent of the two corporate-backed, mainstream political parties.
With this guide, we’ll take a deep-dive into the history of the womens’ struggle for the right to have control over their own bodies.
Learn how the term “pro-choice” is not inclusive of the experiences of BIPOC women, queer folks, and other marginalized women. In order to be successful in addressing international human rights, the battlefield for women’s rights needs the leadership of the women who are most impacted by systemic racism and oppression.
Inside Free Abortion on Demand Without Apology: Reproductive Justice in a Post-Roe America, you’ll discover:
- How safe abortion is necessary for our healthcare—and the dangerous consequences when women lose access to it.
- A detailed look into the formation and history of the reproductive justice movement–which challenges structural power inequalities, prioritizes diversity, equity and inclusion, and must replace the “pro-choice” movement moving forward. As well as the role of abortion as a political tool used by the ruling elite to divide our nation.
- A retrospective on the country’s abortion rights—from court rulings to laws—that meticulously paints a picture of the nation’s “undemocracy.”
- The importance of grassroots action, as our reliable solution moving forward.
- A vision for a proactive abortion rights agenda that guarantees reproductive justice for all, not just the privileged few, by demanding that Congress pass the Women’s Health Protection Act of 2023.
And, of course, there is much more to unpack! Equip yourself with the tools to understand, engage, and join the fight for reproductive justice. Together, we can build a multinational mass-movement for reproductive justice that’s independent of the mainstream political parties, which are controlled by the ruling elite. We marched in the streets and won the right to abortion in the 1970s. We can do it again. Be part of the collective effort in the struggle for reproductive justice for all girls, women, and LGBTQIA+ individuals.

In American Marxism, Mark Levin explained how Marxist ideology has invaded our society and culture. In doing so, he exposed the institutions, scholars, and activists leading the revolution. Now, he picks up where he left off: to hold responsible the true malefactors steering our country down the wrong path. Insightful and hard-hitting as ever, Levin proves that since its establishment, the Democrat Party has set out to rewrite history and destroy the foundation of freedom in America.

Today's feminist movement has a glaring blind spot, and paradoxically, it is women. Mainstream feminists rarely talk about meeting basic needs as a feminist issue, argues Mikki Kendall, but food insecurity, access to quality education, safe neighborhoods, a living wage, and medical care are all feminist issues. All too often, however, the focus is not on basic survival for the many, but on increasing privilege for the few. The iconic Black hood, like slavery and Jim Crow, is a peculiar American institution animated by the ideology of white supremacy. Politicians and people of all colors propagated “ghetto” myths to justify racist policies that concentrated poverty in the hood and created high-opportunity white spaces. In White Space, Black Hood, Sheryll Cashin traces the history of anti-Black residential caste - boundary maintenance, opportunity hoarding, and stereotype-driven surveillance - and unpacks its current legacy....

The Reckoning will examine America’s national trauma, rooted in our history but dramatically exacerbated by the impact of current events and the Trump administration’s corrupt and immoral policies. Our failure to acknowledge this trauma, let alone root it out, has allowed it to metastasize. Whether it manifests itself in rising levels of rage and hatred, or hopelessness and apathy, the stress of living in a country we no longer recognize has affected all of us. America is suffering from PTSD - a new leader alone cannot fix us.

When did America become obsessed with racial differences? After decades of progress healing real-world prejudices and anger, we suddenly live in an America where we’re expected to view every single thing through the lens of race. Children are taught the politics of racial resentment and fear in schools. Films, novels, and even comic books are judged by the color of their protagonists — and their adherence to the latest “woke” messaging.

Upper-middle-class White women have long been heralded as “experts” on feminism. They have presided over multinational feminist organizations and written much of what we consider the feminist canon, espousing sexual liberation and satisfaction, LGBTQ inclusion, and racial solidarity, all while branding the language of the movement itself in whiteness and speaking over Black and Brown women in an effort to uphold privilege and perceived cultural superiority.

Socialists and feminists have long targeted the family as an enemy, even the enemy. For socialists, the family is an obstacle to the full power of the progressive state. For feminists, the family denies female independence and equality. Today, however, the battle has grown even fiercer, as socialists and feminists have found a global ally in the United Nations, which is using its extraordinary power to undercut the authority and the sanctity of the family around the world - even in the United States.

Since the time of the abolitionists, no movement has so politicized social life in the United States as feminism. Responsible for wide-ranging legislation, such as women's right to vote and the right to an abortion, feminists have fought their way to the center of the country's political dialogue and made themselves a major presence there. But the road to such influence has not been easy.

Rights are a sacred part of American identity. Yet they were an afterthought for the Framers. Only as a result of the racial strife that exploded during the Civil War—and a series of resulting missteps by the Supreme Court—did rights gain such outsized power. Over and again, courts have treated rights conflicts as zero-sum games in which awarding rights to one side means denying rights to others. As eminent legal scholar Jamal Greene shows in How Rights Went Wrong, we need to recouple rights with justice—before they tear society apart.

Empowering the Fight for Reproductive Justice
Narrated with an engaging authority, Eliot doesn't simply recount history; she delves into the forces that have historically feared and often sought to muzzle the power of an independent, militant women's movement. One of the key strengths of this audiobook lies in its ability to transport listeners back to significant moments in history, like the landmark Roe v. Wade case—achieved against the backdrop of an all-male conservative Supreme Court and Nixon's presidency.
This isn't just a history lesson; it's a call to arms. Eliot scrutinizes the role of politicians, and particularly the Democratic Party, accusing them of co-opting the Women's Movement for their own agendas. She insists on the immediate need for a movement that's independent of mainstream politics, united under a banner of unequivocal equality, bodily autonomy, and justice for all.
Eliot also critiques the mainstream "pro-choice" narrative, arguing that it often excludes BIPOC women, queer individuals, and other marginalized groups. In her vision for the future, the fight for reproductive rights is an all-encompassing one, challenging systemic inequalities and demanding a shift from a "pro-choice" agenda to a more inclusive reproductive justice movement.
Her voice reverberates strongly when discussing the Women’s Health Protection Act of 2023, as she emphasizes the importance of grassroots action as a reliable solution to the obstacles facing reproductive justice today. She outlines a proactive agenda that extends beyond the privileged few, highlighting the importance of collective action in a society marred by inequality.
Eliot's audiobook provides not just historical context but the intellectual and emotional tools to understand and engage in the fight for reproductive justice. It equips you with a wealth of knowledge and resources, from the formation of the reproductive justice movement to a vision for a future where reproductive justice is a guaranteed right for all, not a privilege for some.
In conclusion, this audiobook is not just an eye-opening education but a manifesto for change. If you want to be an informed, engaged participant in the ongoing struggle for reproductive justice, "Free Abortion on Demand Without Apology" is your essential guide. It doesn't just recount history—it aims to make it.

Powerhouse book! Current and On Point!
This is a must-read book! I had not heard the term “reproductive justice” before, but now I totally get it and am going to join in supporting it. This books gives us the bleak history of women’s rights in relation to our bodies, as well as the political and religious ploys that have taken place to take our rights away. It explains what led up to the original Roe decision and then what happened to take it away. It also gives us hope by highlighting several organizations we can support who are making strides towards this issue. This book is current, on point, a necessary read in order for women to learn and know what steps we can take to protect our rights and bodies.

Important Book about Reproductive Rights
Tamara Eliot seeks to address the issues surrounding abortion, including how the reverse of Roe v Wade has impacted women’s healthcare. It reviews historical content, political viewpoints, and medical concerns. It is well researched and written clearly. The author presents strong arguments for a future where the right to choose an abortion is a fundamental and undisputed aspect of women’s healthcare and bodily autonomy.
