A creature of stitched-flesh and old sorrows, he asks only for peace. But the brutal frontier has other plans.

He calls himself Adam, a giant of a man built by a madman and abandoned by the world. He seeks refuge in the dusty town of Damnation, hoping only to be left alone. But his impossible size and strength draw the eye of Silas Carver, a ruthless railroad baron who sees not a soul, but a powerful tool to be exploited .

Captured and chained, Adam is forced into servitude as a "living engine," tasked with carrying volatile explosives through treacherous canyons where one wrong step means annihilation. To secure Adam's obedience, Carver holds an innocent woman hostage, forcing the gentle giant to walk a path of certain death . But Carver’s cruelty awakens more than just a monster. On the cliffs, unseen warriors watch, and in the canyons, an unholy truce is forged against a common enemy .

The chains will break . The "tool" will choose its own purpose. And a reckoning of fire and fury will be unleashed upon those who believed they could own a force of nature .

Fusing gothic horror with the grit of a classic western, this is an epic story of justice, sacrifice, and the true meaning of monstrosity.

I enjoy Lester Wolf’s work, however I LOVE his Frankenstein audiobooks. These incredible tales recall to mind the very best comics & graphic magazines that featured the Frankenstein Monster as a character / not quite a “Hero” but surely the protagonist. It’s wonderful fun to watch as the creature battles other “monsters” both human and otherwise in these books - I wonder if they are a series in any specific order? If so, this is near the beginning - perhaps just after the immortal creation fights the Christmas demon, Krampus, back in olde Europe. Extremely entertaining! Recommended!
