Four Letter Words for Christians

Words have power. They can build up or tear down, inspire or discourage, clarify or confuse. In the Christian life, there are certain words that carry particular weight and significance - words that we can't afford to ignore or misunderstand.
In this book, we will explore five of these crucial words: Lost, Obey, Holy, Hell, and Fear. These are not comfortable or fashionable words in our current cultural climate. They are words that many try to avoid or explain away, even within the church. But as we will see, they are words that lie at the very heart of the gospel and the Christian life.

In a world that often prizes comfort over truth, these words can feel like a splash of cold water in the face. They wake us up from spiritual complacency and confront us with the stark realities of life and death, heaven and hell, God's will and our own.

But these words are not meant to drive us to despair or to weigh us down with condemnation. Rather, they are meant to lead us to the cross of Christ, where we find forgiveness, freedom, and the power to live a new life. They are meant to inspire us with a greater vision of God's holiness and love, and a deeper gratitude for His amazing grace.

As we explore these four-letter words together, my prayer is that the Holy Spirit will use them to bring about a fresh awakening in our souls. May they shake us out of our apathy, deepen our love for God, and embolden us to live and speak the gospel with clarity and conviction.

In a culture that is increasingly post-Christian and even anti-Christian, the world needs a church that is unashamed of the hard truths of the Bible. It needs a church that is willing to speak the truth in love, to confront sin and proclaim salvation, to fear God more than man.

So let us approach these words, not with trepidation or embarrassment, but with humble hearts and open minds. Let’s allow them to search us, challenge us, and change us. And let us emerge from this study more passionate about the gospel, more committed to holiness, and more in awe of the God who has called us out of darkness and into His marvelous light.
