Resumen del Editor

After a son does the unthinkable, how can a mother go on? On October 2, 2006, a gunman entered an Amish one-room schoolhouse, shooting 10 girls, killing five, then finally taking his own life. This is his mother's story. Not only did she lose her precious son through suicide, but she also lost her understanding of him as an honorable man. It was a trauma that no one should ever have to face. But the biggest headlines came when her Amish neighbors did the unimaginable, reaching out to the family of the shooter with comfort and forgiveness.

Today, Terri lives in harmony with the Amish and has built lasting relationships beyond what anyone could have thought possible. From the grace that the Amish showed Terri's family from day one to the visits and ongoing care Terri has given to the victims and their families, no one could have foreseen the love and friendship that have been forged from the fires of tragedy.

A sad story with a glorious ending!

Most of us never know how we would act in a horrific situation...that is unless you take this book to heart! The author lived through the Amish School murders. Her oldest son was the perpetrator! I suffered with her as I read listened to her tell her grief-filled days. And I rejoiced as her Amish neighbors, even the parents of the young victims, forgave their son and his family. ...Then the “English” families and Amish worked through their grief. It’s a book I will not forget! If you, too, are seeking grace and forgiveness, do read this book!

Making Forgiveness Make Sense

Well written, well read.
This story wasn't something I normally choose to read, but I'm definitely glad I did. I learned so much about the forgiveness process and how to apply it in even the most horrific of circumstances.

If they can forgive you can too

I picked this story bc a friend always watches the macabre on TV - True stories- to try to understand "what makes them tick"- After asking her to,limit her diet, I wanted to know how victims of perpetrators move forward-most,don't move forward The Amish and Robert's way- BC it is Jesus's Way. But WOW ! If well,All did what healing and hope, and sunshine, awaits.
And their perspective " Satan USED your son..."
made,me remember and pray the Lord's prayer- "Deliver us, them, from Evil of The Evil One, Forgive is OUR sins as WE forgive..."

so helpful & healing!

I learned so many beautiful lessons from seasoned saints of God, and was encouraged in my faith that we God we can truly make it through anything. AND its possible to trust him and have faith in him, even in the hardest imaginable events, when we our faith is shaken. I was sad when it ended!

BLB

Story is a two! So horrible to have happened! Courage to live, write, talk for Terri and Amish is tremendous! True heroes of the incident and book are the Amish!

This is read, to be reviewed tomorrow by our churches book club.

Riveting!

This is the best book on forgiveness I've ever read!

Forgiveness is a choice not an emotion. When one chooses forgiveness, ones emotions will eventually follow.

Terri Roberts was authentic about her emotions and her journey in forgiving her son for the horrible crimes he committed against the Amish community and his own family. Sometimes people make bad choices and it has nothing to do with their families. It's all internal. Bitterness does defile oneself. And if you nurture bitterness, it will eventually break out of its bounds and harm others.

This is also a beautiful story of inner growth, healing and humility. The Amish Community chose forgiveness from day one and has helped other communities dealing with mass shootings. Applicable to any situation since Terri Roberts addresses forgiveness from her heart. Christian based, but full of love and humility, not preachy.

Maybe the Amish have it right...

It was really easy for me to see and to feel the tangible love and forgiveness that came immediately from the Amish community. Made me really think about areas in scripture that could help me be a better Christian. And to just think and pray, forgive and listen, and just be more authentic to who each of us is in order to become more Christ-like.

Not much to say

Way too much about the mother. Hard to get through the book. Don't recommend at all.
