For the Sake of Marriage

John Craig settled in New York after migrating from Scotland. It’s after the Civil War and the Nation is beginning to recover. He gained employment making deliveries from the docks to addresses he could only dream of. It was while making a delivery that he met Mary. He had very little hope of winning her heart. After all, she was an only child of a wealthy fabric magnate and would not give him a second glance.

Only, she did, and against her father’s wishes married him and moved to Wyoming. They settled into life on a sheep ranch, becoming successful and well respected, but after two years it changed. Someone was taking down fences and diverting the creek. Suspicion fell on the neighboring cattle rancher, Brody, who had made it known he resented the Craigs. They had outbid him when the land first came up for auction. Was he the perpetrator, or had the Craigs unknowingly offended someone? Was their safety at risk?
