Hank Mize was living the life of a typical 11 year old boy in the New York suburban sprawl of Long Island's south shore. Typical, until Eugenia Bennett walked into his classroom on the first day of sixth grade in 1961 and asked if the desk in front of his was taken. Thereafter, Hank's life would be totally defined by his love for Genie. Their path together took them through times of boundless happiness and contentment, wartime conflict, a family, professional success, personal tragedy and heartache, profound loss, deep friendship, and eventually to a destination neither of them could have ever imagined. As the Follower, Hank's hobby turned into something far beyond what he thought was an innocent way to pass the time.
