Although, the mood of the kingdom was all a tremble, all whetted and breathless. Joy and good humor had been trying to bubble up all winter, but now that spring was nigh it could no longer be suppressed, it could no longer be tamped down. In the fields, the ewes were dropping their lambs on the new grass, and over the bay, large flocks of snow geese were wending their way north. Even the orchards were gladdened with the buds of apple, almond, and cherry trees near to blossom.

Yet peril should have been on the minds of the North Tetains, for while it was true the prince was coming of age and a tournament was to be held, what should have been their concern was the unrest in neighboring Lapollar, what should have been their worry was the near return of the comets, and even more what should have been their disquiet were the rumors coming out of the Vale.

But the powers that be, that is the king, and his advisors were as always blithely ignoring the warning signs. And as is so often the case it was going to be up to the young to see through the elders' blindness.

In previous ages the heroic fellowships, associations, societies, leagues, however they were called had been limited to men, but how had those fared? Really? How had those acquitted themselves? In this age, then, the Hart thought it was due time to be of a broader mind, open it up, it couldn't be any worse, could it? In this age he would commission and order, The Order of the Star, which would consist of both men and women.

Flight of the Midnight Prince is that story. Twelve young souls brought together to do what they can against impending doom, do what they can with their gifts old and new.
