Resumen del Editor

A dangerous drug is spreading through Washington, D.C.—can Marko Zorn take down the company behind it?

Washington, D.C. homicide detective Marko Zorn takes on a far-reaching, complicated investigation when a narcotic more deadly than fentanyl spreads across the city, causing countless fatalities. His search for the people behind the off-label drug leads him to a Big Pharma company run by mysterious, psychopathic twin brothers. Anyone who crosses them is dead.

Marko discovers that the company will soon release another dangerous prescription opioid analgesic, but when the company learns that this information has been leaked, more bodies pile up. Let down by his higher-ups, Marko sets off to solve the deadly ring of crime that now surrounds him, all while evading repeated attempts to kill him.

Marko will need all his wits, skills, and contacts both inside and outside of the law to shut down the twin brothers’ criminal drug empire. Can a painting from a major art theft decades earlier provide the key to how Marko can cripple the whole operation? Only if Marko isn’t killed first.

Excellent narration and a great story

Thank you Audible books for introducing me to Otho Eskin and Alex Teicheira —a great team of author and narrator. Firetrap —a police detective story —was engaging with twists and subplots that kept my attention until the end.Mr Teicheira was perfect as Detective Marko Zorn but also brought the entire support cast to life with his versatility in creating distinct voices and characters. His performance made a good story even better.

Good Villains And Fast-paced

The protagonist, Marko Zorn, is an interesting change-of-pace from the typical Mystery, Thriller & Suspense hero. Characters, both good and bad, added to the story.

This particular story had the opportunity to be the best of Eskin’s 3 releases but changing narrators kept Firetrap from being his best. A change of narrators in a series is always difficult … but amateurish production hurt Teicheira’s voice acting. The voice work sounded like it was done in a studio with no sound dampening or poor equipment … echoing was constant. Moreover, chapter transitions had distractingly long pauses and the recording amplification dropped badly several times. It seemed as if the Audible version was rushed to market with zero quality control.

In this case, I would recommend reading rather than listening to Firetrap.
