Lieutenant Commander Matthew Reddy and the crew of the USS Walker find themselves caught between the nation they swore to defend and the allies they promised to protect. For even as the Allies and the Empire of New Britain Isles stand united against the attacks of both the savage Grik and the tenacious Japanese, the "Holy Dominion" - a warped mixture of human cultures whose lust for power overshadows even the Grik - is threatening to destroy them both with a devastating weapon neither can withstand.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
That's hard to say. I like the book so far, but since the narrative just keeps going and going seemingly without end, I don't know if I would be on the hook if it just starts to drag on and on and on and eventually sucks. What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
No spoilers possible. There isn't an ending yet. None of the books sufficiently wraps things up, it's just one long story that is still going. What about William Dufris’s performance did you like?
As always, Dufris has a good feel for his characters and puts a great deal of energy into his reading.Any additional comments?
My sincere hope is that this series, though it started very well does not just continue until all of the magic is gone (like American TV, the goal is to stay on until it sucks bad enough to cancel). Not buying any more until the last one is done

Where does Firestorm rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
The Destroyermen series is among my favorites in my audiobook library.Who was your favorite character and why?
I enjoy the simplicity of the characters in this series. If I want dark, conflicted antiheroes then I have other books to read. If I want real, gritty, often unlikable characters (that seem to be in vogue these days) then I'll go to work. The characters in this series are unlike the varied and inconsistent personalities that make characters moreHave you listened to any of William Dufris’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I love William Dufris' work with the Destroyermen series. It is difficult for me to immerse myself in his other performances because when I hear a character in some of his other works all I can think to myself is,Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I downloaded this the first day it was available from Audible. I was finished with it three days later and started right from the beginning again. I did the same thing with Distant Thunders and Rising Tides.Any additional comments?
There are people that like to read stories and then sit down to analyze, parse, nitpick, and discuss how the craft of the writing process. I cannot express how much I do not want to have dinner with such people. If you enjoy science fiction in general and military science fiction in particular, this is the first place I would send you. Start with the first one,
