Lieutenant Commander Matthew Reddy and the crew of the USS Walker find themselves caught between the nation they swore to defend and the allies they promised to protect. For even as the Allies and the Empire of New Britain Isles stand united against the attacks of both the savage Grik and the tenacious Japanese, the "Holy Dominion" - a warped mixture of human cultures whose lust for power overshadows even the Grik - is threatening to destroy them both with a devastating weapon neither can withstand.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

That's hard to say. I like the book so far, but since the narrative just keeps going and going seemingly without end, I don't know if I would be on the hook if it just starts to drag on and on and on and eventually sucks.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

No spoilers possible. There isn't an ending yet. None of the books sufficiently wraps things up, it's just one long story that is still going.

What about William Dufris’s performance did you like?

As always, Dufris has a good feel for his characters and puts a great deal of energy into his reading.

Any additional comments?

My sincere hope is that this series, though it started very well does not just continue until all of the magic is gone (like American TV, the goal is to stay on until it sucks bad enough to cancel).

Great Series

Nice to see the Dame famine coming to an end and that the New British Empire will be allies. The Grik are certainly getting more threatening and their new Technology will make the future far more uncertain for the Allies!

Too many to pick just one Dennis is a character but they are all interesting

What does William Dufris bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Without a doubt Mr Dufris is one of the greatest readers around I enjoyed all of his books so far
Keep up the great work

It's quite obvious that Mr Anderson knows his history, gunsmithing, and Navy protocol. He is also a more- than-capable writer. A basic trade-craft skill many of the current generation lack.

Highly entertaining.

Narrator does a good with the different species’ speech and stuff. Would still rather have a dramatized adaptation like Graphic Audio but the story is solid and Silva is being Silva and the skipper is on fire. Onto the next!

Carrying on nicely

It has been my experience that some series suffer from drag. This book is even more high paced that the earlier ones. The books keep getting better and better, more story lines, unexpected twist, triumphs mixed with defeats. Taylor does an excellent job of blending a wonderful concept with the lives and experiences of his characters. What a purely exciting story. Has me longing for the next one already.

A smashin good read and an excellent performance

Where does Firestorm rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The Destroyermen series is among my favorites in my audiobook library.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I enjoy the simplicity of the characters in this series. If I want dark, conflicted antiheroes then I have other books to read. If I want real, gritty, often unlikable characters (that seem to be in vogue these days) then I'll go to work. The characters in this series are unlike the varied and inconsistent personalities that make characters more

Have you listened to any of William Dufris’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I love William Dufris' work with the Destroyermen series. It is difficult for me to immerse myself in his other performances because when I hear a character in some of his other works all I can think to myself is,

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I downloaded this the first day it was available from Audible. I was finished with it three days later and started right from the beginning again. I did the same thing with Distant Thunders and Rising Tides.

Any additional comments?

There are people that like to read stories and then sit down to analyze, parse, nitpick, and discuss how the craft of the writing process. I cannot express how much I do not want to have dinner with such people.

If you enjoy science fiction in general and military science fiction in particular, this is the first place I would send you. Start with the first one,

I love this series.

Taylor Anderson has weaved a great story here. There is a lot of detail and thought put into this story and it ranges from the mundane to the obvious. This installment moves the story along as it should and it brings new characters into the lime light while keeping the main characters at the spear point. This is a huge story about a small group trapped in a different world. I love this idea and the way it's being laid out. One of the best things for me is watching and reading how the author has grown in his skill and craft over these novels. If you haven't read the other books start there first and enjoy the series.

Great continuation of series. As with all the Destroyer Men series fast paced and interesting plot twists like trained Bombardier Pterodactyls.

the adventure continues
