After the disappearance of astronaut and Muvari leader Garvey Dire, Naegrick is sent to shore up a new alliance with an enemy tribe who once worshiped the dread Baalbrock upon whose altars babes were sacrificed at the behest of the all-powerful priests.

But all is not well in the tunnels of Vermopolis. The khan is besieged by forces from within who are angry at the tilting balance of power, and there are others who are hungry to seize the reins of that power.

In the meantime, the enemy tribe of Scurm sense weakness in their hereditary foes and are gathering their forces.
