Nation Betrayed Book I

Annie Hamilton woke up to the blare of sirens and a neighbor pounding on her front door. She quickly realized the world had been reduced to chaos overnight. Millions of Americans had mysteriously died, and the survivors, mostly children, were left to fend for themselves. Annie brought the living to a local church and convinced them to flee the dangerous city as thugs and gangs took over the streets. With an HPD officer among the group of forty or so adults protecting eight-plus children, they gathered a variety of vehicles and supplies.
What caused the mysterious deaths? Were the whispers on the Internet true? Why was the Internet suddenly shut down? Why were all the television stations shut down too? Where was the government? Did their new doctor have the answers?
As survivors gathered supplies, they suddenly heard of a foreign military heading their way. Could they fight off the black-clad invaders hauling away adults and murdering children? Could a few Patriots protect the group and delay the invading troops while Annie and the HPD officer lead the assorted vehicles to find the promised Hill Country Sanctuary.
