Detectives Kacey Yates and Dan Parker are back to being partners after Kacey’s extended maternity leave. Kacey’s brother-in-law, Mayor Chuck Yates, has been arrested for the murder of his political opponent. All evidence points to him as the killer but things are just a little too tidy for Kacey’s taste. In the meantime, two of their homeless population end up dead. Who would harm these gentle people, and why? Kacey and Mike team up with two FBI agents, and their fellow detectives only to find out that heroin is making its way into their jurisdiction. It’s up to them to stop it and find out who is responsible for trying to tear their town apart. When these two crimes begin to seem intertwined, Kacey struggles to find a way to help her brother-in-law prove his innocence and rid their town of this terrible drug.
