It's not easy being Claire. (Really.) Claire's life is a joke...but she's not laughing. While her friends seem to be leaping forward, she's dancing in the same place. The mean girls at school are living up to their mean name, and there's a boy, Ryder, who's just as bad, if not worse. And at home nobody's really listening to her - if anything they seem to be more in on the joke than she is.
Then into all of this (not-very-funny-to-Claire) comedy comes something intense and tragic - while her dad is talking to her at the kitchen table, he falls over with a medical emergency. If You Love Out of My Mind, You'll Love Falling Over Sideways
This book is such a sweet and touching look at Claire who is transforming right before our eyes. Nothing is going right, in fact everything is going wrong, but she is slowly growing up. If you loved Out of My Mind, and Counting by 7s, you will appreciate this book as well.

Loved it!
I am a fifth grade teacher and in our fifth grade we have a Rebecca Caudill book challenge couraging them to read 10 Caudill books before the end of the year. I as well and working my way through the list of the 2018 Caudill books. I absolutely loved this one. It was so much better than I even anticipated. The story is great, very relatable to many young kids, and the narrating was fabulous. I was so sad that it ended.
