Carter Prichard wanted a steady revenue to start a home of his own in Tyris. A land where elves are numerous, forests contain diabolical danger, and humans are still the newer species.

While hunting deep in the untamed borderlands, he unearths a grave containing two artifacts of a forgotten apocalypse. One is a sword that hungers for magic, the other, a crossbow engineered to slay dragons.

Not long after, his discovery leads him to a terrifying truth while on a hunt. The elitist elves aren't abiding by the peace terms. No, not one bit. In fact, they’re enslaving humanity as livestock. After rescuing a woman, Carter draws a line in the mud that shatters the fragile peace of the kingdom and declares his own war.

With a militia of outcasts, a growing family, and weapons that terrify even the immortals, he stands against a tide of minotaurs, magic, and tyranny.

The elves thought they were culling the herd. They just woke up the wolf.
