I am the trailing spouse who boldly packed up my bags and left South Africa to live in Croatia, in the southeastern part of Europe. A tremendous experience it has been for me. Foreigners moving from their country and living in another part of the world where nothing is the same can be the greatest challenge. In this case, the writer moved from South Africa to Croatia through marriage to live in a place she had no idea of and to live there.
Learning a foreign language, learning about the culture and finding out what works best for you is how the author has succeeded in her different life in Croatia.

Experiences are new and moving on is a way to feel happier and to accept what is a life for the writer that has become free and less stressful.

This book is for you to grasp everything I learned from living life in a foreign country, Croatia. A life that is filled with mixed emotions, to learn how to cope with your identity, time for settling in your new country, to raise children, to be able to manage money, and have a career in a place that surprised me from the day of arrival. I felt everything and expressed it all in this place.

Expat living in Croatia and experienced culture shock, and I experienced reverse culture shock that I had not thought of when I visited back home. Living this life and going back home never felt the same again. In all this time I felt I didn't belong in my adoptive country but felt the same when I visited my birthplace.

I live here and feel accepted by certain people but have created my life.
