Ricky’s forces have beaten back the Empire of Man’s attempted invasion of Earth, though he suspects that was a fact-finding mission in force. While doing so, his Navy has captured members of an alien spacefaring species currently known as the Kinaklyn. Ricky has the first known vocal conversation with the Kinaklyn people with very positive results. Now, he needs to figure out a way to get to their home worlds, which are located on the far side of a fair portion of the Empmen’s space.

Space Marine Major Amy Brella is Ricky’s pointwoman in dealing with the Empmen. She leads the initial stages of Spindle’s dealings in Empmen space as they begin with commerce raiding as a way to gain intelligence. When what seems to be a very important world is found, she will once again be the one to lead the way.

Sara Hues is a mid-rank astrogation technician in the Spindle Navy. She is one of the first people to advance through the ranks, as Ricky’s vision of the Spindle military services has always intended. Far more skilled and qualified than her rank indicates, Sara soon becomes too well known to the powers that be to be allowed to operate in the background any longer.

Ricky’s deep seated aversion to the mistreatment of people by governments, societies, and businesses requires him to go after the Empmen using every ethical method available to him. His considerable power is likely going to be more than the Empmen can comprehend. However, unlike the Interstellars, the Empmen are technologically advanced and have effective leadership. This war will be a continuous struggle of quality vs quantity.
