Derrick King lived as a Chosen Person, in a Chosen Community. As a member of the Chosen, Derrick's life was perfect. He was blessed because just outside the walls of the Chosen Community called Pacific Edge raged the world of the commoners. Although the commoners terrified him, he did not worry about them because he was safe in his well-walled and guarded Community. He did not give the commoners much thought until he was exiled to live among them.

great story - ends on a cliff hanger! will be looking for the next book for sure. too bad it is a virtual reader.

Couldn't put it down!

The story is very compelling, and had me on the edge of my seat a few times. It leaves lots of mystery - that ending! Very excited to read more.

I really enjoyed the story, I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. Not a huge fan of AI narration but the story was interesting enough to keep me listening.

Engaging, virtual reader 🤨

Story itself is good, didn’t go where I thought it was heading but I was invested in the characters and followed on.

The virtual reader however is horrendous, cold, zero emotion and if anything detracts from the story, as I found myself thinking of that rather than the story.

Not sure I can do book 2 (if there is one) and will be avoiding other “virtual reader” books.
