Unknown to most, there is a secret society of people who call themselves the Gifted. With powers that can only be described as supernatural, they zealously guard their territories across the United States.
Despite their origins, they are separated into Five Families. Each Family has a Gift, some stronger than the other but all inherited from a mystical Great Mother, a legendary figure in their secret world.
The Families, with their bitter rivalries and petty feuds, are held together by a delicate truce. Standing in the middle is Eve Astoria, daughter of one of the most powerful but peace loving Gifted.
When the time came for Eve, her Gift turned out to be the fulfillment of a prophecy 400 years in the making.
