En torno al término fascismo se han alimentado las más variadas opiniones y definiciones por lo que siempre es objeto de debate en las ciencias políticas pero, ¿realmente sabemos lo que es? ¿Podemos entender por qué en los primeros años de su creación los judíos estaban sobrerrepresentados en el Partido Nacional Fascista, con respecto a la sociedad italiana? Este libro indaga en esa y otras cuestiones de una forma amena y didáctica.
Permite que nos adentremos en la ideología y sus variantes, con el fin de conocer diferentes realidades de la misma en distintos contextos que nos sorprenderán. Por ejemplo, la llamativa postura que adoptó un sector del nacionalsocialismo apoyando las independencias de diversos territorios europeos, las reclamaciones feministas que buena parte de las exsufragistas británicas añadieron al partido... o la existencia de un sector directamente influido por el nacionalismo völkisch (populista) dentro del sionismo alemán. A través episodios desconocidos el autor logra que comprendamos el fascismo allá por donde se extendió -Italia, Alemania, España, Latinoamérica...- al tiempo que nos adentra en sus hitos más desconocidos: la conquista del poder de Mussolini con la marcha sobre Roma, el intento de golpe de estado de Hitler en 1923 y su posterior victoria en las elecciones democráticas diez años después, los distintos movimientos que surgieron en Europa en los años 30, en países como Polonia, Croacia y España.
Iñigo Bolinaga da respuesta, de forma tan ágil como rigurosa, a cuestiones medulares para entender este movimiento político: ¿Qué es realmente el fascismo? ¿Cuántos tipos de fascismos hubo? ¿Cuáles fueron sus momentos de gloria... y caída?
