The world would be a much better place if we all had a devoted and loving family as the Caulfields. Despite his disability and many obstacles to overcome in his life, what an outstanding and compassionate human being Christopher has become. Great job, DAD, mom and sis!!!

audist, oralist, and ableist
I thought this was just going to be a great story about a Deaf kid growing up. instead it was just his parents being audist, oralist, and ableist. God forbid their child is different. it sounds like he didn't even want to call his son Deaf, but his son asked him to. they put him thru thousands of hours of speech therapy because they wanted to force him to speak. this book made me so angry. they didn't want their son to learn ASL. I'm glad in the end their son decided to take asl college courses and the family accepted it but he should have never been kept from it
