Acerca de esta escucha

The Digital Revolution is exciting, promising, and extremely scary all at the same time. Hollywood has convinced many that the future with increased tech will result in a dystopian reality in which humans are forced to fall from the grace of being the alpha species on Earth to the bottom of the food chain. The digital revolution has undoubtedly educated and empowered billions of people in an unprecedented fashion, but it has come at a cost to society in which nearly every human on the planet has an increased sense of entitlement and freedom, which is beautiful in many ways and horrific in others. Unfortunately, online personas of unobtainable perfection have become the new standard for society, despite being incredibly fake, causing everyone around the world to feel a new level of inferiority. It can be quite depressing if one spends a great deal of participating in these sites, and the psychological effects, directly and indirectly, result in users unconsciously developing a sense of entitlement that is perceived as normal, which results in people further living beyond their means and the de facto standard of living becoming increasingly unrealistically extravagant in all societies. One can't blame people for adopting this new standard as it is adaptive to do so, but as Snipes has stated, "Don't let the internet rush you; no one is posting their failures." The result is that every individual and community in every country has an increased and unrealistic sense of entitlement because they have access to the Internet and not as a result of innovation, hard work, and education. Not only is this a ridiculous expectation on an individual and societal level, but it is contributing to the collapse of a healthy sense of self-worth, knowledge of actual wealth, conflicting with individuals' logical reasoning, and ruining forms of healthy communication and empowerment that is necessary in creating peace throughout the world through discourse.
