What are emotions? Why do they have such a powerful influence on your relationships, well-being, and work-life balance? How can recent scientific discoveries about emotions help you become a better person?
With a long evolutionary history, emotions are crucial to our survival. They are central to how we experience the world, establishing a background and foreground to our lives. Emotional wisdom can help us achieve greater health, happiness, success, and connection to those around us.
In this engaging audio course, you can explore the fascinating science of emotions with Vassar College’s Randolph (Randy) Cornelius. The author of The Science of Emotion: Research and Tradition in the Psychology of Emotion, Professor Cornelius is an expert on the history of emotion research, conceptions of emotions in popular culture, and close relationships. The insights you’ll gain from this course will enrich your emotional intelligence.
Each lecture begins with a true story involving emotions, many drawn from Prof. Cornelius’ personal experience. A semi-professional musician, surfer, and collage artist, Prof. Cornelius is a singularly inspiring guide to the series.
Zooming out from the individual to the global scale, he offers hope that we can use what we know about emotions to cope positively with large-scale events in the world.

©2019 Now You Know Media (P)2019 Now You Know MediaIn this course, I learned not to ignore whatever I feel. Throughout the course, I started noticing how I react, especially when Professor Randolph was telling his own stories. I started thinking of how I would react if I was in the same situation. Now, I look at the situations in my life and can explain them in a much better way.
On the other hand, I loved this course because of how scientific it is. Psychology of emotions, their evolution, how scientists study emotions, and many scientific topics are discussed throughout the course. I know that it is difficult to make heavy psychological topics easy for everyone to understand and process.
Understanding our emotions will help us in understanding ourselves. Professor Randolph is one of the best lecturers I have ever listened to. His examples were GREAT and in the context of the chapter. His performance is very natural and he knows how to deliver what he wants.
Thank you, Randolph, for this amazing course and looking forward to more!
