Resumen del Editor

Meet Edger (Ed-jer), a 26-year-old gadget retail dork destined to become the world’s first superhero!

His superpower: The ability to channel the Collective Unconscious, a psychic network connecting the living and the dead. In his arsenal are the skills of Bruce Lee, the strength of Samson, the wisdom of the ages...and the dancing chops of Michael Jackson - including that one twisty foot move, crotch grab, and fedora tilt.

But there's a catch...Like every psychic superpower to get administered through a hypodermic needle, this one comes with a prick. Someone seems to have misplaced the booster necessary for stabilizing his superpower. Without it, Edger has three days before his brain turns to pudding.

Join our Dork of Destiny as he overcomes the world’s greatest butt, two rival Cluck-n-Pray gangs, an evil cow, a Green Bay Defensive Tackle, rifle-toting assassins - and a pair of stoners who inadvertently create the world’s first supervillain after a wild night on Twitter!

WOW....Just, wow

As I sit here putting my thoughts together, I ponder just how I want to begin this review. I am just blown away by the narrator for this story. I must say that I enjoyed listening to this book more than I did reading it myself. The characters were incredible and the narrator did a fantastic job with the voice for each character. Words cannot describe how much I really enjoyed listening to this story. The narrator brought forth a magical and hilarious story that kept me either shaking my head or laughing out loud. The story seemed a lot more clear and understandable listening to the story instead of me reading it. My boyfriend and I found this story amusing and unable to help ourselves when it came to wanting to hear more of it, just to see what part of Edger's adventure this narrator would take us on. And we wondered how this narrator was able to keep a straight face and continue reading in some parts of the story while we were rolling in laughter. Fantastic job, Vikas Adam, for turning this story into a fun and wild ride from beginning to end!! I highly recommend this audio book.

A hoot from beginning to end

Ok, let’s get this out of the way from the beginning. Edger by David Beem is like nothing else that I listened to before, and I experienced over 1,200 audiobooks in my life so far! The closest thing it resembles is The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, but Edger is even more of a hoot than that one.

Well, I guess that’s what happens when our hero is a dork who can tap powers beyond this world and he has to work with or against two rival Cluck-n-Pray gangs, an evil cow, a Green Bay Defensive Tackle, rifle-toting assassins – and a pair of stoners, also addicted to Twitter.

The story is absolutely nuts, with insanely colorful characters, twists, turns, and at least 60 laugh out loud moments a minute.

The audiobook version of Edger is brought to life by award-winning actor, voice-over artist and narrator Vikas Adam. He brings his award-worthy A-Game to the recording booth, once again, and delivers one of the most immersive, hilarious and expansive listening experiences that I heard in a long time. He reads, he acts, he switches voices, accents and genders seamlessly and with style, keeping the action going and the laughs coming.

Really, I don’t think that I want to find out how long this recording took, as I’m sure that not even Vikas Adam could record all of this with a straight face.

Bravo to the the author and the narrator for such a fantastic production!

DNF. Not sure about all these other reviews.

First off, the story itself makes nudge nudge wink wink non-reference to the fact that its stealing most of its central plot from Chuck. Saying you're stealing your premise is not an adequate defense for stealing your premise. Second, this book mocked caricatures of conservatives and Christians early on in the story, the "Collective Unconscious" thing is some kind of weird pseudo-universalist thing, the villain seemed to be an AI influenced by stoned Twitter trolls, and the solution to dealing with the AI seemed to involve organizing a pride parade.

Wrap all that up in Vikas Adams' narration (which worked for me in the first few Completionist Chronicles books, but is somehow grating here even though the voices he uses are the same. Probably its the combination of his voices narrating *this* book.) and that's a no to the thank you for me.
