Resumen del Editor

Christmas break is only a few weeks away. But before Max can relax and enjoy his winter holiday, he has to face a danger beyond any others that he has come across at Filmore Middle School. It is something he fears more than the school bully, Bart Johnson. Something more embarrassing than having to wear stinky gym clothes from the Lost and Found. The Winter School Dance! Girls are supposed to ask the boys this time to the dance.

Will anyone ask Max?

He doesn’t even know if he wants to go. Will he be expected to actually dance at the event? He doesn’t know how to dance properly, although Wii has a game to help practice some moves.

It is a lot more stress than Max is used to at Filmore.

Winter Dance!?!?!?!?! Loads of Fun

Christmas break is coming up and while Max is looking forward to the break, there is a slight hiccup. You see, Max has learned there will be a Dance the last evening before the break; a dance where the girl asks the boy out. Max was not concerned about being asked until he was then things got a little messy for him. Max is thrust into the dating life! Now all the rules have changed, and he doesn’t have a map or a playbook!

The author, Alisdair Baird, once again captures and relays very accurately the ups and downs of middle school dating and what that entails. Specifically, Baird communicates the feelings Max is experiencing very well including being taught to dance by his mother to writing poetry (under duress). This book is particularly interesting not only for teenagers/middle schoolers but young adults of all ages. It is a fun series complete with memorable characters and plot twists that will leave the listener in tears from laughter.

The narrator, Andrew James Roberts, is Max! He slips into the character smoothly and maintains him throughout the book. Baird picked the perfect narrator as he is clear speaking, assumes the characters, and has a solid pace of delivery. I honestly don’t know how he doesn’t bust out laughing during some of Max’s antics!

I highly recommend this book and the entire series. It is entertaining, nostalgic in some parts, and downright fun.
