If Jane Bennet had beauty and kindness on her side, Elizabeth Bennet compensated with intelligence and sharpness.

Lizzy had carefully and patiently shaped the image of her ideal suitor—a young and sensible man, kind and courteous, someone with whom she could openly share her thoughts and dreams, who would love and cherish her wholeheartedly. He did not even need to be wealthy. She would be content to like and love him as long as she could find all these qualities in a single man.

But instead of the perfect gentleman, fate placed Mr. Darcy in her path—a proud man, slightly arrogant, silent when he ought to speak, stubborn when he should ask for a dance, a man with expectations fitting his high rank and a fortune that would make any romantic girl take notice. But not Lizzy. She had come to despise him and tried to avoid his presence whenever possible. Worse yet, she had discovered that he was the one who had driven Mr Bingley away from her sister Jane. That alone made him unbearable.

As if that were not enough, she was utterly shocked when the proud man arrived at Hunsford with a marriage proposal. Outraged and resentful, Elizabeth firmly rejected him—much to Mr Darcy’s apparent surprise.

Yet, she never imagined that, just a day later, after receiving a letter from him attempting to explain his actions—justified as they now seemed—her opinion of Mr Darcy would begin to shift significantly. And now, to her own astonishment, she found herself dreaming of him.
