Devil in the details

This audio was wild and I loved it. The background soundtrack and the voices were so creepy and really set the mode. Just when you thought you got away with something, somebody is always watching. Erica and Jasmine was really going through it and in the worse way. Sometimes it's better to own up to what you did instead of trying to get away with it.

And if you're listening, stick around for the bloopers, hilarious!!

I definitely enjoyed this narration. It brought the book to life for sure. My only issue was the sound effects sometimes overwhelmed the narration. The bloopers at the end were chef’s kiss though.

This one? Yeah… it took me THROUGH THERE.

Dragged Into Darkness starts off feeling like a straightforward thriller—two women, Erica and Jasmine, living separate lives but bound by one very dark decision: they both made a deal with a demon to bury a deadly secret. And for a moment, it feels like they’ve gotten away with it.

But let’s be clear—nothing stays buried forever.

When their paths finally cross, everything unravels in a way I did not see coming. What I thought was going to be a “normal” thriller quickly spiraled into full-blown horror, and I loved every second of it. The shift in tone was sharp, unexpected, and honestly? Exactly what I needed.

And let’s talk about these characters—because baby… Tonya had me stressed. Signing something without knowing the full details?! I was clutching my pearls the entire time. But what really got me was how this story balanced tension with moments that had me nervously laughing out loud. That kind of emotional whiplash? Done RIGHT.

Now the audiobook? Exceptional. J.R. Mason didn’t just narrate—he performed. The delivery added layers to the story that made every twist hit even harder.

This isn’t just a story about bad decisions—it’s about consequences. And when it’s time to pay up, there’s no running, no bargaining, and definitely no escape.

Rather Go To Jail

The cover alone, whew! I was locked in. Story opens with Erica committing the unspeakable and accepting salvation in the form of someone named JoEvil 😈 You already know where we are headed, except you would be wrong! Not once did I have a handle on the direction of the story- I love that- give me twists and turns! Then we are introduced to Jasmine, who stumbles upon a horror being committed by her father, resulting in blood on her hands and another secret to bury.

These two women with two terrifying secrets find each other. They engage, willingly, in acts so vile, my mouth was wide open. These two create more nightmares together, all while trying to hold until love and family. This was a ride! Made better by the narration! JR Mason brought this to life- hats off to her. Jasmine definitely came across as evil gangsta, not sure she even needed a pack with JoEvil! Erica wanted redemption, while Jasmine was stone cold, ten toes down on revenge against those she felt deserved it.

Great pacing and engaging story! Looking forward to part 2.

I enjoyed it!

I’ve been waiting to read something by this author, and this one did not disappoint. This book follows two women, Erica and Jasmine. They don’t know each other, but they have something in common: both of them have made a deal with a demon to cover up a deadly secret.

After going on with their lives as if nothing had happened, their paths eventually collide. And now, it’s time for that demon to collect. There is no amount of running, apologizing, or confessing that will stop it from collecting on that deal.

The book started out like a normal thriller, and I remember thinking to myself that I hoped something different would happen because I wasn’t looking for “normal.” It was like the author heard me, because I was immediately hit with a twist and the plot went completely ape shit, in the best way. And just like that, we’re in a horror.

The audiobook was incredible. It’s narrated by J.R. Mason.

I don’t want to spoil anything, so I’ll just say that I really enjoyed the line of work Jasmine got involved in. And here’s a small tip: never trust anyone named Jo’ Evil. Check your triggers.
