Resumen del Editor

"Reece wields a talented pen. His memorable characters jump off the pages...." (Steven Manchester, number one best-selling author of The Rockin’ Chair and Twelve Months)

When trauma surgeon Dr. Tom Barrett returns from military duty in the Middle East War, he is stricken with flashbacks, terrifying nightmares, and tremors. He learns his old friend and surgical colleague, Akira Yamaguchi, is conducting a clinical trial of a potential breakthrough drug that could erase bad memories in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) victims.

Unable to function and desperate to get better, Tom enters Yamaguchi’s clinical trial. He quickly learns that some patients have improved markedly on the drug, inspiring hope that it could be the next big thing in mental health.

But something is going wrong. Patients’ symptoms are returning in full force. Akira Yamaguchi turns to Tom to enlist his help in determining the reasons for the drug’s sudden failure. Tom and two fellow patients immerse themselves in a dangerous, high stakes investigation to reveal the shocking answer to the failure of the drug.

"Reece deftly weaves...an engrossing, unpredictable and ultimately satisfying adventure story." (David Kerns, author of Fortnight on Maxwell Street and Standard of Care)

In Double Blind Double Cross, Robert Reece combines his skill as a narrative writer with his knowledge of the landscape of emotional and physical trauma gleaned from his decades as a physician. This fast-paced story traverses war and PTSD, the intricacies and pitfalls of medical and pharmaceutical research and, up close, one damaged doctor's redemption.

Greed at all cost!

Well-written, held my attention throughout.

Theo Holland did a good job narrating.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Very Poorly Performed

This book was almost ruined by the person reading it. The performance was unprofessional and awkward. luckily, the plot of the book intrigued me, so I suffered through.

poor narrator but very interesting story

I have great respect for the l author through my work as a child abuse physician, so I was interested to see what his fiction working was like, and it didn't disappoint. very interesting story line that one could see playing out in real life. kept me interesting in both the plot twists and the personal loves of the characters throughout. the only frustrating part was the poor narrator. his speech was so stilted, it was hard to believe he was actually a trauma surgoen.... other than that, great listen.

Not a Mystery

After listening to this book my wife and I feel so sorry for narrators, Theo is the only good thing about this book.

This 8 hour story is draggy, and at first we assumed we weren't the target audience. We didn't find out about the problems with the drug trial until halfway through the story. While the author may know about PTSD, his military knowledge is stuck in Korea.
Setting aside that the main characters antics would have ruined the drug trail he wants to save, He's absent from chapters 24 to 30 because he's in a coma. BIG problem since this story is all from Tom's perspective, so the author hops perspectives through multiple characters until he wakes up,
Long story short (Too Late) this book starts swirling the drain at chapter 24 and the last hour is totally unnecessary.
