I started listening to this because I thought it was a funny concept.
I was laughing at first with the opening narration of a war dogs mind. Then I realized it was because I’m so used to media not taking itself seriously that I forgot I could take a silly concept seriously. As the book went on, I found it far less silly and let myself get swallowed up by another of my favorite authors stories. I nearly cried by the end. Rex is a good dog.

Inside the mind of a canine warriro
Adrian Tchaikovsky is a connoisseur of kinds of intelligences. This book delivers a new, and superb, such novelty. The canine warrior is lovable if frustrating due to his limitations. There's plenty of action for people into that kind of thing. And the ending sets up its sequel quite well.

Unique concept, great execution. Solid narration
Discovered Tchaikovsky from his book 'Children of Time'. Just like that book, he does an excellent job characterizing non-human characters in a believable way. The narration, especially for the bioform characters, really elevated his writing as well and made me fall in love with Rex, Honey, Bees, Dragon, and the others.
Really looking forward to listening to the 2nd book in this series!

He did it again… Adrian is a true master. Don’t judge this book by its’ cover.
I am dumbfounded by Adrian’s storytelling once again. His common themes of humanity and technology interweave in such a way that I reckon he might have a crystal ball. Do yourself a favor and have a listen.

Outstanding!!
Good story and the narrators did an excellent job, especially the guy that did Rex the dog. Wow what a perfect voice for that character. Can’t recommend this audiobook enough, just get it. If you like science fiction at all you’ll almost certainly love this.
