Robots are no longer science fiction. Autonomous, programmed to react like animals: fast, relentless, deadly. From microscopic nanobots to massive self-guided aircraft. This technology is here, it's assessable, and it's dangerous. What's even scarier is that almost anyone can get their hands on it.

A freelance terrorist uses the latest generation of robot dogs to deliver WMDs into cities across America. Sophisticated military weapons systems turn on their human masters. A technological apocalypse is coming, and we may be too late to stop it.

Joe Ledger and a newly rebuilt Department of Military Sciences square off against this new and terrible threat. Dogs of War pits Joe against a merciless new enemy and an army of techno-terrorists in a race to prevent a global destruction.

Let loose the Dogs of War.

What IN THE ACTUAL HELL is Nicodemus?!?! Jonathan Maberry needs an entire related series dedicated to this talking point

I ask again

The last couple books seemed to be lacking something. The story seemed to just throw more of the same minions over and over. I feared the best days for Joe Ledger we're in the past.
With this reboot of sorts I think there are many great stories left to be told. Spoiler alert... you might see favorite characters from other authors and series and it is awesome..

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, Ray Porter does a great job narrating this book and it is a decent story. It would probably be better to start earlier in the series as this book references a lot of prior history.

Any additional comments?

Another entry into the Joe Ledger saga. Not the best of the bunch, but no dog either. Lots of good and scary technology rooted in the real world. Somehow though, the story just didn't scare me, compel me or excite me. There just didn't seem to be the same level of danger as some of the prior books. The wrap up seemed to easy and the villains a little flat. Some old ones appear in interludes and Nicodemus plays prominently, but seems remote too.
I wish the Church vs Nicodemus conflict had a bit more meat, especially the battle. Nicodemus seems to take a lot of traits and characteristics from King's The Walking Dude/Randall Flagg. Maybe that is intentional.
Other main characters like Circe and Junie get a mention, but little or no air time.
Regarding the series, I'm sure this is all going somewhere with the good and evil and who Church really is, but it taking awhile to get there. We do know some eventual outcomes as per Dark of Night and the Rot and Ruin series, but it seems to be a long road. Maybe after nine books I am a bit jaded.
I am looking forward to Joe Ledger: Unstoppable coming in October.

Not a Dog, but not the Best

The narrator. is the best I have ever heard, I hope he never stopped. Johnathon Maunder has a very big imagination. and I'm thankful for that, please don't ever stop writing Joe Ledger novels.

Good Story

Jonathan Maberry shows everyone once again just how amazing an author he is. With Ray Porter doing his usual fantastic job as narrator, Dogs of War is just another masterpiece.
