It was a little after noon on a Friday. I was really looking forward to a great weekend with Nora. I guess you could call her my fiancé. We've been going together for almost two years, and she's always hinting that we should tie the knot. I glanced up from my thoughts, and I saw her...walking down the middle of the street. She's not much more than five foot, if that. As she got closer, I saw she was dressed in a plain cotton dress that looked a size too small.

Saddle up, and ride into the old West, Pardner!
J. C. Hulsey opened the door to an old West adventure with the first sentence of this story, and he kept me in the story until it ended. Excellent writing, combined with superb reading, made this story one that pulled me away from the present and introduced me to some realistic characters. This is storytelling at its best!
