Hopeful Solution

I heard Rachel’s interview with Ryan Warner on CPR as I was driving to Boulder to be with my mom during her more frequent bouts of vertigo, nausea, and eye movements. Doctors have been failing her, and our frustration is high. I had to believe that hearing this interview on my way to Boulder to deal with similar symptoms HAD to be more than mere coincidence. I am so hopeful that we can find a solution without going through the MANY years of hell that Rachel did. Fingers crossed and THANK YOU, Rachel!

Beautiful writing, inspiring story

This book is a work of art. Rachel’s beautiful and thoughtful writing pulls you into her experience. My heart ached at every dead end she endured, and I felt genuine joy in each of her triumphs.

Amazing story of courage and persistence!

This is a true story that reads like a suspense novel. I couldn’t put it down, wanting to know how it ended.

Good Story, But Frustrating

I enjoyed the story, but for two things: It was frustrating the way the author would randomly jump back to a time when she lived in Alaska to tell us some irrelevant story about a grizzly bear that had no bearing on the theme of the book. And she would constantly remind us that she was a horrible patient advocate for herself, over a 13 year illness. How many times did she go to a different doctor and want to ask questions or push back on the same diagnosis, but do nothing? I have absolutely no idea how debilitating her condition must have been, but at some point I would imagine I would have just got angry that no one was listening. She was far more patient than I would have been.
