Martin Zender
Acerca de esta escucha
In this groundbreaking work, Martin Zender asks the one question that no other book on human sexuality asks: Why is there sex in the first place? No other book makes procreation a side-effect rather than the raison d'etre of sexual attraction. Never content with knowing how things are (everyone knows that women look great in pumps while men look ridiculous), Zender explains why they are. From the genesis of eroticism in Eden to your bedroom, Divine Principles of Sexual Attraction demystifies the behaviors of both sexes, at the same time making both men and women content with who God made them. You'll never look at the opposing gender the same way again.
"We are taught to picture God as an old man with a white beard. No description of Him could be further from the truth; God does not resemble Merlin the Magician. God is not a man, and neither does He resemble one. God Himself is invisible; He is spirit (John 4:24); spirit is His essence. Yet His essence is the most beautiful thing imaginable. We cannot see God, but we behold, day by day, that which has come from Him, that is, His creation.
Notice in Genesis the progressive nature of God’s creation. He begins with plants: azalea bushes, sunflowers, wheat, grass, elm trees, and dandelions. He then fills the seas with living, moving souls: plankton, starfish, crabs, scallops, seals, and the giant sperm whale. The sperm whale is a step up from the dandelion—somewhat. The celestial citizens, beholding all this, marvel at God’s power.
Without stopping, God then populates the near heavens with various flying things: eagles, hawks, wrens, and the yellow-bellied sapsucker. The sapsucker surely stupefied the celestial worldmights, who no doubt supposed it to be God’s coup de grace.
They were wrong about that.
Next from God’s hand came the life that crawls upon land: ants, porcupines, warthogs, elephants, and cats. Ah, now we have it. Surely with cats God had exhausted His creative genius.
But no.
On day six, God created Adam. As Adam arose from a pile of mud, a hush befell heaven. Before the gaze of all stood a being of reason and wonder, able to kneel and sniff the soil in awe at his own quintessence. At last, the ceiling.
Well, not so fast. Surely heaven caught its collective breath as Eve ascended to full height, dressed in a halo of morning mist. What wide, smooth hips. Her legs! My God! They’re longer than the gazelle’s! Birds must have alighted upon her, while butterflies flitted to her hair. The piano had yet to be invented, but whatever celestial instrument prefaced it struck gorgeous tones. For here was not merely another human, but an improved specimen.
In our modern language, Eve was Adam 2.0.
The celestial attendants looked at God, then at Eve; then at God, then at Eve; then at God, then at Eve; God, Eve, God, Eve—on it went. With the thousandth pass, light dawned. Adam mirrored God’s strength, but here, in the woman, the celestial world perceived God’s crushing beauty.
As did the first man.
Woman is proof, upon the Earth, of the irrestible gorgeousness of God." (Martin Zender)
"Therefore a man shall forsake his father and his mother and cling to his wife, and they two become one flesh." (Genesis 2:23-24)

As indicated by the title, this book presents a very critical look at the doctrine of Hell, which is rarely criticized within Christendom today. In the scriptures, there is no mention of "eternal torment" in the Old Testament, and in the Greek scriptures (the NT), there are three words translated to "hell": Gehenna, Hades, and Tartarus, none of which have anything to do with eternal torment. My objective is to guide you into the knowledge that the doctrine of hell is unbiblical and extremely harmful to those who hold to it.

We are clay pots by design, not because we have gone afoul of God's intention for us. Wouldn't some of us love to shed our earthenware now and still walk among mortals? Our sins keep us from a perfect walk, and we mourn this. We do not yet understand, of course, that an imperfect walk is the main idea of this life. God puts the treasure of his spirit in earthen vessels now to keep the vessels from situating themselves upon high places. Humility is a blessed thing. Mistakes remind us of our clayhood and drive us toward Christ.

If prayer changed things, we'd all be in trouble. Imagine eight billion people storming heaven simultaneously. Imagine God throwing His papers all around and wondering what to do, who to answer. Imagine God finally plugging His ears and grinding His pearly white teeth in holy exasperation. This is a worse case scenario than if God just ignored us all and continues with His plan, which He came up with quite a long time ago when everything was calm and peaceful and humanity had not been invented.

Paul’s 13 letters are a radical departure from the rest of Scripture, including Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The only place in the Bible where you will find details concerning God’s remedy for restoring the heavens is in the 13 letters of Paul. The only place in Scripture where you will find law tossed out the window is in the 13 letters of Paul. The only books in the entire Bible dealing with the special salvation of gentiles (non-Israelites), who sin as a vocation and have never even heard of Moses, are the 13 letters of Paul.

In Gay Girl, Good God, author Jackie Hill Perry shares her own story, offering practical tools that helped her in the process of finding wholeness. Jackie grew up fatherless and experienced gender confusion. She embraced masculinity and homosexuality with every fiber of her being. She knew that Christians had a lot to say about all of the above. But was she supposed to change herself? How was she supposed to stop loving women, when homosexuality felt more natural to her than heterosexuality ever could?

Common people. Maybe you heard their names in a childhood Sunday school class. They're not often the champions or the go-to sermon illustrations. They probably didn't stand at the foot of the cross or even hang next to Jesus on one of their own. But they pepper the pages of the Bible, reminding us that we're not alone. Just like you and me, these ordinary people stumbled and struggled. They faced their own sin and came face-to-face with a God who not only wipes it away, but also makes the common extraordinary.

Pop culture and psychobabble tell us to make ourselves the center of the universe in order to be happy. Churches have communicated the false idea that God exists to give us all that we selfishly want. In this book, Max Lucado reminds us that it's not about us, it's all about God. It is through this shift in thinking that we can truly live an unburdened, happy life.

Kris Vallotton reveals God's true plan for women, as well as men's role in restoring women to their rightful place. Years ago, Martin cracked open his Bible and began wrestling with a few fundamental questions. He asked, “What if every single word of Scripture is absolutely true and I can trust it? How do I respond? Something in me should change, but what? How?” This audiobook is the result of that exploration. Writing as our guide, he uses a storyteller’s imagination to illuminate key moments from the Scriptures, primarily from the life and ministry of Jesus. In addition, Martin shares key moments from his own journey as a disciple - and bondservant - of Christ and a mentor to others.

A joy that can't be quenched? A peace that can't be broken? A happiness that can't be threatened? There is such a joy. It is a sacred delight, a holy gladness. You can't open your Bible without reading about it. You can't live a truly satisfying life without it. And it's nearer than you think. Jesus describes that sacred delight in the astonishing mountain message we call the Beatitudes. And Max Lucado, in this classic exploration of enduring joy, shows you how this familiar but revolutionary prescription for living can bless your life beyond your wildest imagining.
