Distant Traveler, Volume III, A Long Journey's End

This is the final book in the Distant Traveler Trilogy, Volume III brings the story to a dramatic conclusion. James “Mac” McClure goes on the adventure of his life, recovering the remains of World War Two airmen in south Asia and also finds $160 million in World War Two gold.

Mac serves thirty years in the Air Force and retires to the mountains of North Carolina. He uses his free time to invent an aerial laser surveillance system. He enlists his old back seater (weapons system officer) from his F-15 fighter pilot days, who now teaches engineering at MIT to help him build his laser detection system.

Once built and tested, he takes two aircraft outfitted with the “gadget” to India and uses it to find downed World War Two aircraft. Mac gains help from unexpected sources, including a WW II Army Air Force veteran and the ghost of his grandfather, "Lightning McClure." Along the way, he finds archived files that point him to lost gold in the mountains of India and Myanmar.
