Spellbinding! This book should wake up those Americans hypnotized by the swamp and main stream media.

A first hand account of disinformation

This book is written from the perspective of a former Romanian intelligence officer (his rank/experience is higher than an average bear). LTG Pacepa brought forth the method and reason of some of the old Soviet Bloc deception campaigns. It should be noted that LTG Pacepa gives valuable insight to disinformation tactics, at a few times he does use propaganda techniques to describe some of his former colleagues, and probably with good reason. Overall, this book is a valuable to understand disinformation at its source.

Enthralling expose of communism and autocracies

Incredible book - the logic, the understanding of the actions of communist and autocratic leaders, the results are all well communicated and respectfully acknowledged.

A great book. A must listen to all

I found the book to be informative. A must read or I can say must listen. The KGB is really exposed here.

He cites Rush Limbaugh

Pacepa has an interesting and totally unique point of view, but late in the book he turns into a Fox News commentator focusing at length about how (try not to laugh) Obama is going to redistribute wealth, is a socialist, how Obama is like communist leaders of the past, plus more blah blah blah like any second tier news-talk jerk.

It was like re-living the '08 election via right-wing pundit. You want to compare Obama to Ceausescu because they both have schools named after them, fine, but the author would be better off just sending an audition video directly to Roger Ailes directly 'cause he ain't gonna read to the last chapter of the book.

If I sound mad, well, it's because the rest of the book was very interesting and now I feel like... I guess a sucker. The BS at the end colors the rest of the book in a bad way. I guess even former KGB turn into get-off-my-lawn Republicans when they get to a certain age.

It should be a mandatory read for all people around the world

I only hope, as much people as possible will read this book now, in a time when the veil is lifted. We’re under attack. It’s not a new war though. It’s the same old one, in a Clausewitzian sense.

Lt. Gen. Pacepa is one of the view true heroes. Maybe people outside the intelligence world might struggle to believe or even understand how deep the deception goes and how easy you can be tricked into false beliefs.

I came to understand, what also works in favor of the disinformation campaigns we face now all over the world, is that people ain’t rational. Their history is part of their legend, I dare to say: religion.

Accepting to have spent a half life under wrong premises, perhaps wasted time and even unwillingly harmed others, causes tremendous pain and requires strength.

In that sense, this book might help some to leave their paradise of deceptive childhood and growing into an adult who knows good and evil.

America is the beacon of the world. And the last gatekeeper that defends humanity before it gets really dark.

I thought this was a fantastic listen. hadn't ever really read about this subject now I have to consider this every time I read the news.

Required Reading for All!

Similar to Whittaker Chambers, Witness, this book reveals history that isn’t taught in schools.
As I learn of the various groups and ‘movements’ that were created in the Kremlin and unleashed around the world, I see what a sheep I have been to believe lies, instead of the truth before me.
I do find a strong pro-Catholic narrative without mention of pedophilic clergyman but possibly the authors think that is due to the communist operatives sent to many seminaries.
The more folks who read this book the better the chance for Liberty!

Disinformation?

Great book! I applaud his courage to move away from what disillusioned and troubled him. He brings alot of credible, and incredible, information to the forefront. Gives you a great deal to consider and chew on. Could he still be continuing with a hidden disinformation program? He provides enough to move anyone to research deeper, if they want, and alert all to keep our eyes, ears, and brains aware, open, and watching. Question everything.
